Why should I choose Stars for my next retreat?
We think that you will find Stars a comfortable crafters retreat. The following is a list of things you will find at Stars Creation Station Retreat House. All linens, pillows, and towels are provided. Wireless internet access is provided for your crafting needs or those that need to work on their laptop. We have a fully equipped kitchen if you decide to cook your meals or enjoy take out. If you need to print pictures, no worries, Walmart, CVS, and Rite Aid are located within 4-7 miles of the house. Satellite TV and a radio with a CD player are available. Don’t forget your CDs! The comfortable sitting area is a plus as well as the outside deck.
How do I make a reservation?
Confirm that the date you want is available by checking the calendar page. If that date is available, fill out the reservation form and submit it. We ask that you assign one person to be your contact person for your group. We will contact you regarding a deposit. Once we receive your deposit that date will be reserved for you and your group! Your balance is due 30 days before your retreat date.
What type of personal items should I bring?
Pack your bags as you would for a hotel stay. Bring your personal toiletries and medications. There are drug stores close by and Wal-Mart is within 4 miles in case you forget something. In emergency situations there are a few toiletries available. There is a hair dryer.
How many people can the retreat accommodate?
There are eight 5 ft scrapping tables, 6 twin beds and 2 double beds. Bedrooms are very spacious at this retreat.
Do we have to share bathrooms?
Yes. There are two bathrooms.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check in is 10:00 am on Friday and check out is 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Why is the address to the Retreat House not listed on the web site?
To respect the privacy of the guests currently enjoying their retreat, we do not publish the actual address of the Retreat House and ask that you do not visit the house without first contacting us for an appointment to view it. We would be happy to give you a tour of the house if you would like to see it before reserving your retreat. Please contact us with your request for a tour. Once your reservation is confirmed, you will be sent the address and directions to the Retreat House and a security code to get in a week prior to your check-in.
What if I am not a crafter?
While the layout of the home is designed with the comforts of crafters in mind, there are many other amenities to enjoy. There is a lounging area for reading, knitting or just relaxing with the group. The entire house has wireless internet for easy access to the internet from your laptop, iPad or E-reader. There is satellite TV to enjoy with your crafting friends while they work or enjoy the serenity from the back deck with a cup of coffee.
What are the sleeping accommodations?
The three spacious bedrooms are set up to create a relaxing environment for sleeping. There are eight comfortable beds, six twin size and two double with all linens, pillows, blankets provided. If you have that favorite pillow, by all means bring it.
What about smoking and pets?
Stars Creation Station is a smoke free house. Smoking is only allowed on the deck. Sorry, no pets of any kind are allowed in the home or on the property.
Do you have internet access?
Yes, the house has wireless internet access throughout, including the deck for those that want to bring their laptops, iPads, Nooks, or Kindles.
Can I crop all night?
Sure! It's your weekend. Stay up as late or sleep as long as you want. Crop in your pajamas if you'd like - we want you to be comfortable.
Is Stars Creation Station just a scrapbook retreat?
While the studio is designed with scrappers and card makers in mind, it is also accommodating to quilters, beaders, knitters, and ones that crochet. In addition, the space is available for book clubs, prayer groups or other groups who need a quiet place to meet.
What if I run out of something and need some supplies?
If its basic toiletries you have forgotten, there is a Walmart close by. For scrapbook and craft stores, please see our links page.
Are keys available to enter and leave the Retreat House?
We have a keyless entry system which allows our guests to have the convenience of entering and leaving the Retreat House at any time during their stay without worrying about keeping up with keys. We will provide our guests an access code and simple instructions for using the keyless entry system.
What are my food options?
There are numerous restaurants in the immediate area covering all types of cuisines. A list of area dining and delivery options will be provided at the Retreat House.
Are meals provided?
At this time Stars is an unhosted facility which means that the guests provide their own food, this is one way that we can keep our rates so affordable. We encourage you to do what works best for your retreat.
Can I bring my own food and snacks?
Yes, our fully equipped kitchen is available for your use, we just ask that you treat our kitchen as you would your own and clean up after yourselves. There are grocery stores close by if needed.
Who provides the cleaning?
We have housekeeping services after the retreat. For the enjoyment of the group, we ask that you use the trash cans provided and take all bags to the front can outside when leaving. Put dirty towels and wash cloths in the clothes baskets provided. Clean up after yourself and load and run the dishwasher 2 hours before leaving. Remove sheets from any beds used.
Can I have my own private room?
This is based on the number in your group. There are a total of 3 bedrooms.
Can we bring guests who will not sleep overnight?
Yes, however, please see our rates page for our current day rate, this small amount is to cover the cost of basic amenities and the use of our studio.
You may want to also consider:
Dressing in layers. It's difficult to please everyone when it comes to temperature control with a group.
You may want to bring some music CDs. We have a Radio/CD player in the studio. If you would prefer, you can bring an MP3 player/CD player and headphones to listen to your own music selection.
Most importantly, please bring a cup with a lid. Even adults can spill so it would be best if we all have lids when working at the table.
